How to connect your Namecheap domain to SleepPRO™
Custom domains
Here is how to connect a domain bought at Namecheap, so your funnels and blog show at your own address.
First add your domain in SleepPRO™, as described in step 1 of How to connect your domain to SleepPRO™. Each domain gets its own CNAME records.
First CNAME record
- In Namecheap, go to Domain List and open the Advanced DNS tab of your domain.
- Click Add new record and choose CNAME record.
- Enter www in Host.
- Enter the first value from SleepPRO™, ending in cloudfront.net, with the full stop at the end, in Value.
- Click the green tick.
A www CNAME record already there? Edit its value instead.
Second CNAME record
- Click Add new record and choose CNAME record.
- In Host, paste the code from SleepPRO™ which comes before your domain, starting with an underscore.
- In Value, enter the second value from SleepPRO™, ending in acm-validations.aws.
- Click the green tick.
Check your records
Go to dnschecker.org and enter the full name of each record, including your domain. You should see your value with a green tick. If not, review your DNS settings.
Add a redirect
- In Advanced DNS, click Add new record and choose URL Redirect Record.
- Enter @ in Host.
- Enter https://www.yoursleepbusiness.com in Value.
- Choose Permanent (301) and click the green tick.
If the redirect does not work: add an ALIAS record
This method has proven more reliable on Namecheap.
- In Advanced DNS, click Add new record and choose ALIAS record.
- Enter @ in Host.
- In Value, enter the value of your first CNAME record.
- Set TTL to Automatic or the lowest option.
- Click the green tick to save.
DNS changes take 24 to 48 hours to spread fully.
If Namecheap will not save a record because of a conflict, usually with the first CNAME, ask Namecheap whether the existing record is needed or can be removed.
