How to authenticate your domain name on GoDaddy
Email deliverability
Here is how to authenticate your domain when it is registered with GoDaddy.
You will need a domain at GoDaddy.
If you send your emails with SleepPRO™
Step 1: get your records in SleepPRO™
- Click your profile picture, then Settings, then Emails.
- In the Domains section, click Click here to authenticate your domain and display its information in your email header.
- Enter your domain without www, for example yoursleepbusiness.com, and click Save.
- Refresh the page and click the eye icon. You will see three CNAME records and one TXT record (your DMARC record). See How to create a DMARC record.
Authentication is required to send emails from SleepPRO™.
Your domain needs a working website. If it leads to an error page, email providers may block your emails.
Free email domains, such as Gmail, Yahoo or ProtonMail, cannot be authenticated.
Step 2: add the records in GoDaddy
Stuck at any point? GoDaddy's support team can help.
- Log in to GoDaddy and choose your domain.
- Click DNS records, then Add new record.
- Choose CNAME.
- In Name, paste the name from SleepPRO™, keeping only the part before your domain. If SleepPRO™ shows si942517.yoursleepbusiness.com, enter si942517.
- In Value, paste the value from SleepPRO™ and add a full stop at the end.
- Click Save.
- Repeat for the other two CNAME records.
- Add a new record, choose TXT, and enter _dmarc as the name and the DMARC value from SleepPRO™, which looks like v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:you@yoursleepbusiness.com. Click Save.
Step 3: check your records
- Open DNS Checker (dnschecker.org) and enter the full name of each CNAME record, including your domain.
- A green tick next to the right value for all three means your domain is authenticated.
- Red results mean something is off. Check your DNS settings, or contact SleepPRO™ support with a screenshot of your records.
- Check your DMARC record with a DMARC checker, by searching your domain.
Contact SleepPRO™ support once you have added your records, so the team can confirm everything is in place.
To send from your domain, confirm your sender address too. See How to confirm your email sender address.
If you use your own SendGrid account
