How to create a community
Communities
A community gives the families you support a warm place to ask questions, share wins and feel less alone, for example a private group for your sleep package clients.
1. Create a community
- Go to Assets, then Communities, and click Create.
- Add a name, the domain, the URL path, and choose whether posts are approved automatically or by you.
- Click Save.
2. Your community dashboard
- Home: add posts and create topics.
- Search: search posts, comments and authors. Suggestions appear after 3 letters.
- Members: see members and send invitations.
- Settings: manage your community.
- Scheduled posts: posts waiting to go out.
- Topics: add topics.
Members
Invited people are not members until they accept and complete onboarding. The Members area has four tabs:
- Members: active members with their join date. The member count only includes active members. Search and invite from any tab.
- Pending invitations: people invited who have not joined yet. Resend or cancel here.
- Expired invitations: invitations expire after 7 days. Re-invite from here.
- Banned members: members you banned.
Settings
Change the name, URL path and cover image. The cover shows on the communities list and the Join page. Choose:
- Private: only people you invite can join.
- Public: anyone can join after signing up.
You can also change whether posts are approved automatically.
Topics
Add a name and path and click Add topic, for example Naps, Night wakings or Wins.
3. Posting
- Click Write something.
- Add a title and path, choose a topic and write your post.
- Add emojis, upload one or more images or videos, add a video link (YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, Twitch, Vimeo, Wistia or Loom), or a pre-recorded voice memo from your device.
- Click Add post, or turn on Schedule this post.
Click the three dots on a post to edit or remove it.
Owners and moderators can pin a post with the pin icon, to the home page or its topic. Pinned posts sit at the top with a small blue banner and an Unpin option. The newest pinned post shows first. Pinning on one page does not pin it everywhere.
Sort comments by oldest, newest or most popular. Pin a comment with the three dots, then Pin comment.
4. Automate access
- Automation rules: give or remove access when something happens, such as a tag being added or a form submitted.
- Workflows: combine community access with delays, decisions and other steps.
5. Joining a community
Parents join through your community link.
With a SleepPRO™ account:
- Logged in with access to your domain (for example through a course): click Join.
- Not logged in but with access: click Join and log in.
- Without access: click Join, enter your email and confirm through the email you receive.
Without an account:
- Enter your email and click Join the community, then confirm through the email to create your student account.
